Rollo Robotics Win Seed Funding for Monowheel Security Robot

Autonomous monowheel security robot patrols a disused warehouse, navigating debris and shadows with glowing sensors and sleek industrial design.

Estonian startup Rollo Robotics has secured €3.7 million in pre seed funding as it looks to take its distinctive autonomous security robot from advanced research into early commercial production. The funding marks a key milestone for the Tallinn based company, which has been operating largely under the radar since its founding in 2025.

The investment round was led by European venture firms FoodLabs and PROTOTYPE, with additional backing from Enterprise Estonia through its RUP programme. The company says the funding will help transform its prototype technology into a product ready for real world deployment.

A different approach to security robotics

Most security robots currently on the market rely on multi wheel or tracked designs to maintain stability. Rollo Robotics has taken a different path by developing what it describes as the world’s first stable autonomous monowheel security robot.

At the heart of the system is proprietary gyroscopic stabilisation technology combined with high frequency sensor fusion and custom balance control software. This allows the robot to remain upright and manoeuvrable on a single wheel while operating autonomously.

According to the company, the monowheel design gives the robot a slimmer profile than traditional platforms. This makes it better suited to navigating narrow urban spaces, crowded industrial corridors and constrained environments where larger robots may struggle.

Technology built for real world conditions

The newly raised capital will be used to harden both hardware and software so the robot can cope with harsher operating conditions. These include adverse weather, uneven terrain and high traffic environments where people and vehicles are constantly moving.

Rollo Robotics also plans to invest in preparing its manufacturing and supply chain. The aim is to support limited scale production tied to pilot deployments, allowing the company to gather feedback from early users while gradually scaling output.

Where Rollo sees adoption

The company is targeting security and surveillance applications, particularly autonomous patrolling of infrastructure, industrial sites and other large facilities. By automating routine patrols, Rollo believes its robot could help reduce costs, improve coverage and offer a less intrusive alternative to traditional security measures.

While the company has not disclosed specific customers, it has confirmed that pilot programmes are already underway and are influencing final design decisions.

What comes next for Rollo Robotics

Rollo Robotics was founded by Arno Kütt, known for his work on automated retail systems at Cleveron, alongside Sander Sebastian Agur. Both founders say the focus is now firmly on moving from engineering breakthrough to dependable commercial product.

With pilot deployments feeding into production readiness, the next phase will see Rollo position itself within Europe’s growing physical AI and robotics sector. The company’s long term goal is to bring its monowheel platform to the global security market, offering a new category of autonomous mobility built around agility, efficiency and modern design.
